So of course you are investigating all these diets, such as the Dukan Diet, because you want to lose weight. Most of us have visions of slimmer, svelter, selves. But those of us who have tried diets in the past know very well that, not only is it difficult to lose weight, but it is even more difficult to maintain your weight at this new lower weight.

This is where the Dukan diet comes in. It helps you achieve what is termed your “True Weight,” and then, even more importantly, helps you maintain it. So in order to realistically determine what weight you can achieve and maintain, you must find out what your True Weight is.

In researching various Dukan Diet Reviews, I have reached the conclusion that whether the Dukan Diet is right for you depends entirely on you–your preferences, your needs, your likes and dislikes, your commitment level… It really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks.  Only you can decide if the Dukan diet is something that is going to work for you.

Some people find the Dukan diet menu relatively easy to stick to.  They love the fact that there is no calorie counting or weighing of the food.  If you have tried any of those diets, you know that when you stop the calorie counting and/or weighing the food, the lost weight inevitably comes back, and often with a vengeance!  And after all, no one can be counting calories all their lives!

The book not only outlines and goes through the four phases of the Dukan Diet, but also includes an extensive list of permitted foods, as well as numerous recipes. Just going over the recipes in the book alone will give you a fairly good idea of how appropriate this diet is for you.  Some, like “Tandoori Chicken Escalodes,” sound particularly yum to me!  Apart from this, there is also information on the theroy behind the Dukan diet, and some general information about nutrition. The bottom line is–if you are not sure if the Dukan diet is right for you, the best way to figure it out is to read the book.  So go ahead, read the book, read the details, read the recipes, and then get back here and share your comments– we’d all like to know if you think the Dukan Diet is right for you.

Pierre Dukan is a French doctor, and he is the creator of the Dukan Diet. Bet you could have guessed that from the name of the diet! Pierre Dukan was a general practitioner in Paris in the 1970s. Dukan thought of a way to prevent patients from regaining their lost weight. He designed a new approach in 4 phases, including stabilisation and consolidation. After more than 20 years of research, Dukan published his findings in 2000 in his book “Je ne sais pas maigrir” (which means “I don’t know how to get slimmer”).  The book became a best seller.

The Dukan diet quickly became popular in France, and, more recently, it has been gaining in popularity in the UK and in the US.
